finding balance is a lie
“Just find balance.”
That’s the advice everyone throws around.
And honestly? It’s bullshit.
Make sure you read that correctly 😉.
As a broad concept, there’s nothing wrong with balance. I do talk about it a lot as well. But the problem is… no one actually explains what the hell that means.
We’ve all heard it before:
“Just find balance.”
“Just eat in moderation.”
“Just don’t overthink it.”
It’s well-intentioned advice. But here’s why I think it’s kind of bullshit…
It’s totally subjective.
What does balance even mean?
If I have a few drinks on the weekend… is that balance?
If I train 6 days a week and track macros… is that balance?
If I skip workouts during a busy season of life… is that balance?
It depends who you ask.
And that’s exactly the problem.
Most people don’t need more vague advice — they need clarity and context.
The IG bro says: “Just be disciplined.”
The wellness influencer says: “Just listen to your body.”
But how about we actually define what balance looks like for you?
What a novel concept.
Here’s how we approach it differently with our clients:
We start by discussing their non-negotiables — things that actually matter to them. Family dinners. Travel. Date nights. Time with kids. Those things stay intact.
Then, we have an honest conversation about what balance really means for them (not for someone on Instagram).
The goal is to start with the most flexibility possible.
Then, based on how they respond and progress, we make adjustments to keep them moving forward.
In practice, that looks like this:
Dan was traveling through Portugal - he enjoyed wine and incredible food every night - and still came home leaner because he knew how to adapt, not restrict.
Jeff spent two weeks in Paris with his wife. No tracking, no stress. He walked, made solid choices, and actually lost inches while enjoying croissants every morning.
Adam goes on multiple cruises every year and used to gain 10+ lbs each trip. Now? He enjoys every bit of the experience and comes home right where he left off, because his foundation is bulletproof.
Every single one looked different.
And that’s the point.
Most people can’t figure this out on their own. They swing between chaos and rigidity.
Either they’re trying to be 100% perfect… Or they burn out and say screw it.
That’s why our clients feel such relief. We help them find the exact level of flexibility they need — so they can enjoy life and keep seeing results.
This is one of the core parts of our Unbreakable Process — specifically, the Unbreakable Lifestyle phase.
Once you have the right foundation and understand how to adapt through real life — travel, events, busy seasons — your results become automatic.
If you’re ready to stop guessing and finally find your version of balance — hit reply and tell me what you’ve been struggling to stay consistent with lately.
Much love,
Mackenzie
